Welcome & Opening Remarks | 7 Lessons for the Age of Shared Leadership

In this talk Hancock Lumber CEO and author Kevin Hancock will discuss his new book THE SEVENTH POWER – ONE CEO’S JOURNEY INTO THE BUSINESS OF SHARED LEADERSHIP.

In 2010 Kevin acquired a rare voice disorder that often made speaking difficult. In 2012 Kevin began visiting the remote Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. There he discovered an entire community that did not feel fully heard.

These two events propelled Kevin to re-engineer his company around the concepts of shared leadership and dispersed power. Kevin then set out on a travel odyssey that took him from the Arizona desert to Kiev, Ukraine in search of a broader understanding of the past, present, and future of leadership. That adventure produced a series of ‘lessons’ that Kevin came to believe formed the pathway to a new organizational model fueled by The Seventh Power.
Kevin will share these seven learnings and how he specifically applied them to help re-invent a 173 year old lumber company in Maine.
