Matthew Delaney serves as the Director of Government Affairs for the National Lumber & Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA).

Delaney was most recently a Legal Resource Assistant at Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP, a multinational law firm based in Washington, DC. At the firm, Delaney supported members of the Environmental Practice Group through all stages of litigation on matters primarily involving the National Environmental Policy Act, Clean Water Act, and Clean Air Act. In this capacity, Delaney gained experience navigating the federal rulemaking process and would frequently assist in the submission of public comments on the issues prioritized by clients.

Prior to that, Delaney served as a legislative aide for Congressman Jim Himes of Connecticut. In his role, Delaney helped advance the legislative priorities of the congressman and his district. He was regularly tasked with monitoring committee hearings, drafting memoranda on key issues, and supporting the constituency services team through writing response letters to inquiring constituents.

While in college, Delaney interned with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). Delaney worked with the Office of Fair Practices supporting their community stakeholder engagement initiatives.

Delaney holds a bachelor's degree from the School of Public Affairs at American University, where he double majored in Political Science (with a public policy concentration) and Communications, Legal Institutions, Economics, and Government (CLEG).

He is a native of Fairfield, Connecticut, and currently resides in Northwest Washington, DC.
